VERBS

HELPING VERBS.


There are 23 common helping verbs (sometimes called Auxiliary Verbs). They are not too hard to remember if you think of them like this:




A full verb phrase can have one, two, three, or four different verbs: one main verbs and up to three helping verb.
  • You go.
  • You have gone.
  • You will have gone.
  • You should have been going.


REGULAR AND IRREGULAR VERBS.

Most verbs in English are regular. To form the past tense of these, you just add –D or –ED.
  • Today it walks, last week it walked. It has always walked.
  • Today it dances. Last week it danced. It has always danced.

For irregular verbs, on the other hand, the past tense is formed in different ways. That is why they are called “irregular”. Here are some examples:
